We are looking for a motivated junior breeder, who will be working on watermelon and will be based mainly at our trial and demonstration farm in Shanghai-Songjiang district.

Job description
Together with and under supervision of the breeder conduct all operational activities related to the breeding of watermelon varieties in China.
在西瓜育種人的指導下開展所有的與西瓜品種選育相關的工作.
Job tasks:
Collect breeding material and germplasm.
收集育種資源.
Advise and discuss about field trial locations, contribute to management of trials, contacts with farm manager.
對試驗地點提出建議,同農場經理溝通并參與試驗管理.
Design and setup of breeding trials.
籌劃育種試驗.
Conduct together with the breeder the total watermelon breeding program, including selfings, crosses and selection of breeding lines.
同西瓜育種人一道開展西瓜育種項目中的各項活動,包括自交、雜交和育種材料塞選。
Build up knowledge about breeding material in relation to the markets.
基于市場需求，確立相關育種資源的知識。
Collect and analyze breeding data from field trials.
從田間試驗中搜集試驗數據并加以分析。
Quality and purity control of parental lines and hybrids.
控制親本和雜交種的質量和純度。

Qualifications:
Master or PhD degree in plant breeding.

At least 3 years experience in a similar position in the seed industry.

Knowledge and interest in plant pathology and horticultural science preferable.
具有植物病理或園藝科學知識者優先。
Creative and dedicated to quality in all aspects of your work.

Able to collect and analyze breeding data with standard computer hard- and software.
能夠使用計算機軟件分析育種試驗數據。
Keep in touch of recent developments related to your job by literature, attending congresses.
